Fundraising to help Children in Uganda
Dispensing Optician David and his wife Miriam head to Uganda in July to visit a school community near Masaka in the south. In 2010 David and Miriam established a charity to help develop and support a small, newly established primary school. Much fund raising later and after many visits, the school now has 12 classrooms and 400 pupils. During the visit last year, David carried out vision screening on all the pupils and staff. The vast majority had very good vision and those that didn’t were provided spectacles funded by the charity.
David and Miriam visit again in July this year. Among other things, they will visit the families of sponsored children and carry out some maintenance tasks at the school. David will recheck everyone’s vision and hopes to extend the checks to adults in the villages. With that in mind, we would love to raise funds to enable David to take some complete pairs of spectacles with him.
